Required Gear: Tele or Rando touring skis & boots, poles, skins, avy beacon, shovel, pack with ski carrier. Skis with a fishscale patterned base are ideal but not essential.

Nason–Smith Traverse (a Cascadian Classic).

Trip Type:
Intermediate/Advanced backcountry ski tour.
Terrain:
Gentle to steep forest slopes; steep downhill glades; gentle downhill road.
Starting Point:
Stevens Pass (Elev. 4060 feet).
High Point:
Lichtenberg Pass (Elev. 5100 feet).
Ending Point:
Smith Brook Roadhead “sno-park” (Elev. 3260 feet).
Estimated Stats (car to car):
10 miles, 1400-foot gain, 2200-foot loss.

Meeting Time & Place:
7:30am at East Monroe Starbucks (on north side of US-2 near eastern end of town, near Safeway and former Albertsons).
Estimated Return Time:
5:00pm at Smith Brook Roadhead; 6:30pm at Monroe.

Logistical Details:
We need to drop at least one car at ending point before starting tour; no Sno-Park permit required at either location.
