Over the past several years, we have had several successful moonlight ski outings on the Iron Horse Trail just beyond Snoqualmie Pass. We meet at the Crystal Springs SnoPark (I-90 Exit 62) or across from Hyak (Exit 54) in the evening near sunset, on or a few days before the Full Moon. Ski out along Keechelus Lake, opposite I-90, and share hot chocolate and snacks before returning. But weather and snow conditions are not usually favorable, so we need to consider many dates to get decent odds of having one or two successes. Here is a tentative schedule, to be refined according to snow conditions and weather forecast. This outing requires at least partly clear skies, so may be adjusted a few days ahead to fit weather forecasts. Many (most) will likely be cancelled by poor weather. I also won't be available every month, so others are also welcome to take the organizing lead.
Specific times will be publicized as dates approach with favorable conditions. Distance will depend on people's energy. Plan for a minimum of three miles round trip to view the lake, we typically go five or six miles. Dress warmly. Bring a headlamp, which may be needed until the moon gets well above the trees. Interested folks should reply directly to me so that I can gauge interest, and set up a notification list for carpools and last minute updates. -Dean
